Annual Endurance Horse Registration Fee Reminder

Annually Registered endurance horses will need to renew their registration (either $55 lifetime fee or $11 yearly fee) in order to compete in 80klm rides this year.

Any endurance horse without the registration sticker at ride entry will only be allowed to enter the training ride. The easiest way to register your horse (for both the Register and yourself) is to do it at the same time as your membership renewal. The stickers will be returned with your 2005 membership card.

A reminder that any horse issued with a logbook must use that logbook at all rides (even trainers). Endurance (yellow book) horses do not have to be registered to compete in training rides. Novice horses do not have to be registered until they qualify as endurance horses.

AUSTRALIAN ENDURANCE SQUAD

Trans Tasman
Of special interest to Squad members (after the WC's) in 2005 will be the Trans Tasman FEI 160k 3 * and the 110k** ride to be held at Red Range, near Glenn Innes in NSW. As well as being a ride for all riders, it is also a friendly competition between both countries. A teams competition will be run in both events, with a selection of Squad members to compete against the Kiwis .

The requirement for Squad selection is: (firstly Squad membership then)

160k 3* Rider
1. Rider has not represented Australia at an International Championship event (NZL exluded)
2. Has completed all the requirements of Level 2 (of the AES criteria)
Horse
1. Must be 7 years of age, and has completed 500klms which may include a 160klm ride. Preference will be given to VGIH competitions.

110k 2* Rider
1. as per 160klm ride above.
2. Preference will be given to riders that have completed a 160klm ride, or a VGIH ride of any distance.
Horse
1. Has to have successfully completed 400klms.
A team will consist of 4 horses and riders, it is entirely possible that the squad may field more than one team in each event.
We will be calling for expressions of interest from squad members and riders at large for horses to be loaned to the Kiwis for this event. This will be regarded as a goodwill gesture and no money will change hands. We hope to be able to emulate the overwhelming generosity that the Kiwis exhibited towards the Australian Team when they visited for this inaugural event last February, when horses and accommodation was supplied and is indeed the charter for the staging of this event.

OWNERSHIP OF THE HORSE

It is the responsibility of the purchaser of the horse to notify the State of the change in ownership details. It is important that the correct person be registered as the owner of the horse as this assists with the correct allocation of National and State distance and pointscore awards as well as identifying the persons responsible for the horse when disciplinary actions need to be instituted.

Process for Changing Ownership Details

When a sale of a horse occurs and the horse has had a logbook issued it is the responsibility of the new owner to notify the State of the change of ownership. A transfer of ownership form must be completed and forwarded to the State, together with a cheque for $11and the logbook.

Once the transfer of ownership form is received the logbook can be amended with the change in owners and the transfer verified by the Logbook Secretary/Registrar.

Procedure for Recording Change of Ownership

Transfer of ownership forms are to be made readily available to all members, preferably through the State Newsletters or upon application to the Logbook Secretary/Registrar.

Once a logbook, transfer of ownership form and fee are received the Logbook Secretary/Registrar will:

1. Record the ownership transfer into the logbook.
2. Verify the transfer.
3. Return the logbook.
4. Record the ownership transfer into the computer records of the State Division.
5. Keep a copy of the ownership transfer form and forward the original to the AERA Registrar.
6. Forward the $5 fee to AERA.

NEW and AMENDED RULES FOR 2005

Click here to view new and amended rules (pdf file)
A copy of this document will also be dispatched with new and renewing memberships.

Rule interpretation re withdrawing before compulsory re-present.

The AERA is currently examining the withdrawn horse rules to bring them up to date with VGIH rides.

Rule H16.2) A horse cannot be withdrawn for any reason:
b) during the period the horse is waiting to present at a gate-into-hold veterinary inspection. The AERA interprets this rule as also referring to compulsory
re-presentations at a gate-into-hold veterinary inspection.

CHIEF STEWARD/RIDE ORGANISER NOTICES

Chief Steward and Ride Organisers must ensure that their Risk Management checklists are completed and sent to Kerry Spratt as a matter of priority - fax (02) 4340 5881.

Chief Stewards are reminded to use the red stickers in the logbooks when a rest order has been placed on a horse.
